Heartfelt thanks to our good friend "Wild Garden" of Virginia for sharing her insightful commentary, "New Attitude" which eloquently describes what so many of us feel about Winter Sowing.

i'm not sure what the point of this post is i just wanted to say that ws'ing this year and last has really given me a new attitude about plants and i am happy for it. i was out working with the seedlings today and it just feel so nice, you know ? i was showing someone how to ws and i reached down into a box and take out this handful of lettuce sprouts and i sink two fingers into a straw bale saying ... see, you take a small hunk off like this and put in into the soil like this ... and their eyes were just so big like i was some kind of magician or something haha. i could see the expression it was an expression like ... where did all these seedlings come from, how can you just casually handle clumps like that ? i'm not sure what i am saying really. it's just that before i started ws'ing, each individual plant had to be nurtured along you know like a spoiled child, and that's great i guess, but now it's like the feeling i imagined when i was young about gardening, like in stories and things. when you are young you think that just throwing a couple of seeds into the dirt would make a jungle, like you have released life on the world and everyone had better stand back and give it some room! and then you try gardening and it's not like that, you feel like every little thing is so much effort just to get it to live, you know ? but since i found ws it's back to child like gardening, now there is just life everywhere! so much life you don't even know what to do! it overflows the containers and eats the entire area! and you have to move fast because it's growing so fast you need to find a place to put it all, make room, get rid of more grass, make beds, etc, and you better hurry too because this stuff won't wait forever! :)

i just really like it. when i was holding that clump of lettuce seedlings and doing show-and-tell i was just thinking how nice they looked. these seedlings were so healthy, so fresh and new, just begging to be planted in the soil so they could take off growing. and that's the way it feels with all of the ws seedlings, they don't seem to have bad attitudes or tempers, they just smile and are happy all the time. and there are a lot of them so it is good they are happy or they would be quite an angry mob! i just really like the feeling ws gives, it's so happy. it's just very easy and creates so much life that it is really good feeling. it's a really good groove, one of the more powerful gardening tools i have learned to use. it is very high in value. it is like you win the lottery so you get all of your money in 1$us bills and roll around in it, that's how i felt. i raise my hands stuffed full of lettuce seedlings into the sky, lettuce seedlings falling from between my fingers and laugh hahahaha. :)

Thank you very much Wild Garden,
you are a genuine WinterSown Superstar!
